The Exhibition\u201d at the Gropius Bau marks Marina Abramovi\u0107\u02bcs first major solo exhibition in Berlin since the 1990s. Working with her body since the 1970s, the artist has long engaged with ritual, endurance, and transformation. The exhibition brings together historical and new works across three sections, examining the erotic as an essential force: in its relationship to ecological cycles, the inevitability of death, and political resistance.<\/p><p class=\\\"_Standard20pxWhite\\\">At its center is Abramovi\u0107\u02bcs work cycle \u201cBalkan Erotic Epic\u201d (2005\/2025), drawing on nature-based rituals, myths, and belief systems from across the Balkans. Film and sculptural installations alongside live performances conjure an imaginary picture of the region, shot through with deliberate exaggeration: Abramovi\u0107 uses this to question how assumptions of backwardness continue to be projected onto the Balkans. The exhibition is part of the Berliner Festspiele\u02bcs 75th anniversary program; in October 2026, the multi-hour stage production \u201cBalkan Erotic Epic. The Stage Version\u201d will follow at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.<\/p><p class=\\\"_Standard20pxWhite\\\">The campaign motif is a striking video still from Abramovi\u0107\u02bcs eponymous work cycle. It shows women in traditional dress, blouses open, massaging their breasts in an open field \u2014 a ritual gesture evoking eroticism, fertility, and harvest. Unmediated and direct, the motif carries Abramovi\u0107\u02bcs artistic stance onto posters and banners across the city; an expression of the fearlessness that has defined her work for The exhibition brings together historical and new works across three sections, examining the erotic as an essential force: in its relationship to ecological cycles, the inevitability of death, and political resistance.<\/p><p class=\\\"_Standard20pxWhite\\\">At its center is Abramovi\u0107\u02bcs work cycle \u201cBalkan Erotic Epic\u201d (2005\/2025), drawing on nature-based rituals, myths, and belief systems from across the Balkans. Film and sculptural installations alongside live performances conjure an imaginary picture of the region, shot through with deliberate exaggeration: Abramovi\u0107 uses this to question how assumptions of backwardness continue to be projected onto the Balkans. The exhibition is part of the Berliner Festspiele\u02bcs 75th anniversary program; in October 2026, the multi-hour stage production \u201cBalkan Erotic Epic.
